GLENN HUGHES and JOE LYNN TURNER talk about their upcoming album "II"
JOE LYNN TURNER:
"Well, "HTP 2" is finally finished! .... and it is something else! ... I just returned from Los Angeles where we spent 5 weeks writing, rehearsing and recording - I can't say enough about what a great experience it was!! When I got there Glenn and J.J. were on fire creatively and it was some of the best tracks I have ever heard! Glenn had already written a few incredible songs on his own and the collaboration between the 3 of us just took off! A couple days of rehearsal and we were in the studio - drums the first day - keys and guitars for a few more days and then vocals - Glenn and I worked very spontaneously, trading verses, singing choruses together, adding ad-libs, etc. By the time I was ready to leave I couldn't believe what I was hearing! I was a fan of the music!! I've made a lot of albums in my life but this was another milestone! Oh, I forgot to mention that we had Steve Vai and Chad Smith (Drums, CHILI PEPPERS) guest on a track called Losing My Head .. wow, these guys rock!! All in all I think it's one of the best CD's I have ever had the privilage to be a part of and I thank everyone involved! Check it out and I think you will agree with me!! Thanks for your support all these years - I'll see you on tour soon!!!"
GLENN HUGHES:
"For me personally, HTP 2 is a fantastic follow up to our first release last year. it is once again, a classic rock album. This time I wanted to take the listener a little deeper into our world. For me the music is stronger.
Revelation:
I wanted to start the album off with an early 70's style riff with a big chorus.
Alone I Breathe:
I wrote this song to have two meanings: extremely heavy music with really harmonic melodic vocals.
Losing My Head:
I love this song. As soon as I started writing it I knew Chad was the only one to play drums on it. My friend Steve Vai plays an awesome solo on this track.
Going My Way:
This is a perfect song for Joe. And he does a great job on it.
Hold On:
JJ was really excited about this track and I feel the same way.
Lost Dreams:
This is the first lyric I wrote on the album. The chorus just jumped out at me.
Time And Time Again:
As with Mystery of the Heart, I sent the music to Joe and he made this song happen. Joe's voice is fantastic on this song.
Good Bye Friday:
I wanted to have dual voices on the verse followed by an even bigger chorus. Love the arrangement on the solo.
Burning the Sky:
I was going to save this for my own record but I wanted to share this with Joe. One of my favorites. I love the Bass playing on this song.
Sofia:
This song came from an idea about one of my favorite cities in Bulgaria.
Let's Talk About It Later:
I took some time writing this song, and changing the arrangement a few times. I am really happy the way it turned out. Possibly one of the best songs in my career.
